Port of Cleveland Celebrates the Retirement of Garth Woodson After 20 Years of Distinguished Service
The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority proudly announces the retirement of longtime team member Garth Woodson, recognizing his 20 years of dedicated service and lasting impact on the organization and the region. Woodson’s final working day with the Port Authority will be Tuesday, March 31.
Throughout his tenure, Woodson played a vital role in advancing development finance initiatives, with a strong emphasis on diversity and community impact. He collaborated in issuing more than $5.5 billion in bonds, supporting over $8.8 billion in construction projects that have driven meaningful economic growth across Northeast Ohio.
“Beyond the numbers, Garth understood that this work is about people — creating jobs, strengthening neighborhoods, and improving quality of life,” said Carl Naso, Chief Financial Officer at the Port of Cleveland. “That perspective made him an invaluable member of our team.”
As he prepares to retire, colleagues reflect not only on Woodson’s professional accomplishments, but also on the relationships he built and the respect he earned throughout his time at the Port. Known for his collaborative spirit and steady leadership, Woodson leaves behind a lasting impression on both his teammates and the many partners he worked alongside across the region.
“Garth has been a trusted colleague and a valued leader whose impact goes far beyond the projects he helped bring to life,” Naso added. “He brought integrity, thoughtfulness, and a genuine commitment to this work every day. His presence will be greatly missed, but the influence of his contributions will continue to be felt across Northeast Ohio for years to come.”
The Port of Cleveland extends its sincere appreciation to Garth Woodson for his more than two decades of service and the meaningful role he played in advancing the organization’s mission. We wish him all the best in his retirement and thank him for the many ways he has strengthened our team and community.
