Completion of environmental program signals Port’s
strong desire to be part of a sustainable future
The Green Marine organization compiled results from Port Authority data and concluded that the Port has surpassed mere regulatory compliance and achieved a rating that indicates positive environmental practices.
Port President Adam Wasserman said, “We are proud to be recognized for our hard work in taking a look at our own environmental actions. We have been willing to ask tough questions about what we do and then take the necessary steps to work in an environmentally sustainable fashion.” Wasserman also pointed out that the Port Authority is the first American Great Lakes Port Authority to hire a full-time environment and sustainability manager.
