Linda Sternheimer joined the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority in 2006 to work on the Port’s development finance investments, overseeing projects such as the Cleveland Clinic and Brush Wellman totaling over $300 million.
In 2008, when the organization restructured creating a Real Estate Group, Ms. Sternheimer’s role shifted to focus on the coordination and project management of lakefront planning for the regeneration of 100 acres of waterfront that is currently used for commercial maritime activity. The redevelopment philosophy of the downtown lakefront plan is to develop a plausible strategy primarily concerned with putting in place a framework (development blocks, public access, the streets, the parks and esplanades) to support phased redevelopment over an extended period of time. Some of Ms. Sternheimer’s responsibilities include overseeing the consultant team, managing the stakeholder and community engagement process and identifying and applying for resources to support the process.
Prior to joining the Port Authority team, Ms. Sternheimer was the Northeast Associate Asset Manager for National Equity Fund, Inc responsible for 30 partnerships with 1200 housing units in six states and the District of Columbia.
Ms. Sternheimer has dedicated her professional career to issues around urban redevelopment from low income housing to real estate planning and development. She has proven leadership skills working with a diverse population ranging from CEOs to the inner city youth in New Orleans. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute and was a founding board member of (i)Cleveland, which seeks to attract and retain talented undergraduate students in Northeast Ohio and is now a part of the Cleveland Leadership Center.
In 2000, Ms. Sternheimer was the recipient of the Allen C. Holmes Fellowship. Ms. Sternheimer holds a Master in Business Administration from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University as well as a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the Mandel Center for NonProfit Management. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University.
