Adam Wasserman
Adam Wasserman is President and CEO of the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority. He became the agency’s chief administrative officer in 2007 and oversees the Maritime, Development Finance, Strategic Development, Regional Economic Advancement and Administration groups.
Wasserman will focus his efforts on expanding trade and commerce in the Northeast Ohio region. He recognizes the Port Authority’s position as a regional player in advancing economic development initiatives and will continue to support the organization’s mission to assist area businesses in creating and retaining jobs.
Wasserman had lived in Yorkshire, England, since 2004 and was CEO of Hull Urban Regeneration (Citybuild). The privately managed urban regeneration company was established by British central government to stimulate investment in the port city of Hull and its surrounding district through economic growth, development and the creation of public infrastructure. Citybuild and its private partners are developing projects valued in excess of $2 billion.
At Citybuild, Wasserman collaborated with the four ports located within the United Kingdom’s largest port district, which is connected to ports in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Russia and Finland. He also led the establishment of the Hull and Humber World Trade Center, which is designed to play a pivotal role in the European Union directive encouraging port strategies to link northern European economies stretching from St. Petersburg to Dublin.
Previously, Wasserman served as executive director of Virginia’s Arlington Economic Development, where he directed overall business development strategy, real estate development and tourism. He has held top economic development positions at Central and South West Corp. in Texas, at the New York City Public Development Corporation and the Baltimore County Economic Development Commission in Maryland.
Wasserman is a member of the Urban Land Institute, International Downtown Association, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and International Economic Development Council. He is a former board member of the U.S. National Center for Law and Technology and former chairman of the Greater Washington Initiative.
He earned graduate and undergraduate degrees from Arizona State University and a certification in international trade from Loyola College.
